One of Grapples Connection's missions was to source hard-to-find brands and make them available in the US. At the top of our list was Kusakura Judo Gis. Kusakura is one of the oldest Gi manufacturers in the world, having produced gis since 1918! All the gis we import come directly from Japan, and we are extremely excited to make them available in the US!
Recently, we were able to travel to their factory in Osaka, and get a first-hand look at how the gis are made! If one thing was apparently clear throughout our tour, it was the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into the entire process. From fabric weaving to cut-and-sew to embroidery, there is rigorous quality control! No wonder over a century later, Kusakarua is still one of the top manufacturers in the world!
